By far, the most challenging part of the project so far has been carving the ball and claw foot. Patience and perseverance have paid off and it is complete.
Traditionally, this style of foot has what is known as Acanthus leafage flowing out from the transition blocks on each side and joining in the middle, which is what you can see here. There is also some element carved to fill in the “V” at the top of the knee; I chose to place a queen bee here.
This coming week will be spent in finishing touches on each foot, final assembly, and surface preparation before applying the finish.
