An update on my final project, the Chippendale style tea chest. I finished installing the lock and cut the small mortise (which involved making a small 1/16″ mortise chisel from an old bandsaw blade) for the strike mechanism to engage; the only things left to be done are to install an escutcheon, glue in the shelves, and veneer and install the back; most, if not all, of which will be done by the end of tomorrow. Then the only thing remaining to to prepare the surface and apply the finish.
Today saw another milestone reached as well; as I near the end of my training, it is time to shift focus on getting the business end of things in order. I received my Business Certificate from the Town of Templeton today. This is good as it will mean a seamless transition into the next chapter of things.
