This past week has been very hectic and frustrating. It seems that the combo jointer/planer that I bought for it’s space savings turned out to be a expensive wood chipper. After running some sample cut pieces through and discovering that the machine was not making flat and square, the two prime functions of a jointer, I set about making the necessary adjustments. Not being able to get the tables and fence correct, I contacted the company who provided some information.
Unfortunately, after three days of lost work time, I wasn’t able to make this machine functional, and ended up buying to separate machines. The footprint of both is pretty small, the planer is completely mobile, the jointer is small enough to have a permanent location, and so I’ll be able to get back on track with these well tuned machines.
